Anaerobic Digestion in the UK – is there life beyond fiscal incentives?

28th March 2019, The Studio, Leeds

Renewable energy subsidies have been essential to the recent expansion in the UK’s Anaerobic Digestion sector. While the Renewables’ Obligation (RO) has supported AD in the sludge sector for many years, the rapid recent increase in AD within the commercial and farming sectors is due to support from the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).  With the RO closed to new entrants, levels of FIT support considered insufficient to support new facilities and the RHI due to close to new entrants in 2020, this one day conference aims to address the question: What does this mean for AD in the UK?

Issues to be considered by our expert speakers will include:

  • Has the AD industry become addicted to subsidies?
  • Is AD still the right technology for biowastes and sludges?
  • Can we innovate our way out of subsidies?
  • Can we do other things with our AD assets?
